My name is Adrienne Williams. Owner of Eclectic Treasures and Gallery, I am the Eclectic Witch creating products for your personal spiritual and healing journey, I am also the Artist of Adrienne's Creations. I am a lifetime resident of Jefferson County. Art and creativity have been a big part of my life as far back as I can remember. I ended up graduating from Maryville University in 2004 with my BFA. I went for graphic design but didn't do much with that, as I prefer to get my hands dirty. I love to try all things art, all methods and insist on being creative in all aspects of my life! Being a dabbler in art and a multi-media artist, my main concentration is metalsmithing. I consider myself a Metalsmith Witch! I've been creating wearable art since 2019 when I was able to get back into it since college. I continue to learn, grow, and push my skills and will continue to create until this life won't let me live here anymore!
My name is Jerry C. Williams Sr., (aka JC Williams in honor of my little brother) and I am an artist who was raised in Pine Lawn, North County, St Louis Missouri. My mom always said I was different. It turned out that was just that I am an artist. I saw things and experienced things that children should never experience during my young life. Somehow, I made it to adulthood and art saved my life! I found my Creator and realized that I had to create every day. My greatest joy is to help a young person to realize that they are an artist, and art is not always about money. It is the kind of person that they are. The people who create, understand these words and call themselves artists.
As an artist, and human being, I have always struggled with balance. The balance between fear and safety, LOVE and hate; and the loneliness in between; happiness and depression. I have also struggled with the balance of art and functionality, ancient and modern, the balance of cold and heat, and the regulation of drying time when it comes to clay, or as I call it, our Mother and Grandmother - the Earth and Water, and our Father and Grandfather - the Spirit and Wind.
When I first started down the road of becoming a potter, I was emerging from a period of a time of painting and poetry. For many years, I had been using these two mediums to somehow heal a very torched soul. During this time, I developed a way of painting that I call "Natural Flow Manipulation". To paint nothing until it becomes something. I had come to a point where I needed to get back to the Wind and pottery was it.
I wanted to create things that would feed people and still wanted to create pure art that has no use except for the eyes and the soul. I began to give that part of my art its own space on the bottom of my pieces. Free of utilitarian use of functionality. The true balance between this and that.
I hope that what I have created, and still hope to create, is a true balance between art and functionality. I guess that history will make that final judgement.
I love using old and discarded things as tools to design my creations of ceramic art. I fell in love with Air Plants after buying one from the Jefferson College Christmas Pottery Sale. When I did not kill the air plant I started reading about them and their pups. I came up with a few designs to make air plant holders that are as beautiful and individual as each air plant I have purchased. I started thinking about how we all need the air we take in to survive. Maybe the love or air plants can bring people together? We all need air and why not make this world a better place by thinking about how important it is to take care of all of God’s creations by respecting our Mother the Earth and each other.
